Free photos
Searching Pexels from inside the editor, and how a chosen photograph becomes a file the project owns.
The Photos panel searches free photographs and brings the one you choose into the project. Photos are provided by Pexels, are free to use personally and commercially, and may be modified.
How a photograph arrives
Search, or browse the curated feed the panel opens on, then press a tile. Framulus fetches that file once into the project's own storage and places it on the open slide. From that point it is an ordinary asset: it is in the Assets panel, it counts against the project's storage, it can be used on other slides, and it opens the same way on another device.
Nothing in the search results is stored in the document. The tiles are the provider's own thumbnails and they are gone when the panel closes.
Credit
The photographer's name is under every tile and links to their page. Pexels does not require attribution, so a deck made with these photographs needs none, but crediting the photographer is worth doing where there is room for it.
When it is not available
A deployment without a Pexels key says so in the panel and shows nothing. Uploading, pasting and importing images by URL are unaffected. See the deployment notes for PEXELS_API_KEY.
